Case study / ZEREZO BITES
A premium dog-food commercial made with AI filmmaking in 48 hours
Zerezo Bites is a 44-second commercial that ZerezoFilms AI Studio, an AI commercial production studio in Mexico City, took from concept to first cut in 48 hours in October 2026. It uses hybrid filmmaking: human direction over an AI-generated world. It is a self-initiated project for a fictional dog-food brand, built to show what brands and agencies can commission: consistent characters, a premium US-commercial look and a full poster campaign.

The challenge
Pet-food advertising runs on two things: a dog that performs on cue and a product that looks irresistible. In a traditional production both are expensive: trainers, shoot days, locations and post for any ambitious transition. Brands and agencies weighing AI production want proof before they commission it, so we set a precise brief for ZerezoFilms AI Studio: a spot with the look of a premium US commercial, characters that stay identical from shot to shot and a complete story, delivered in days instead of weeks. To do it without exposing a client we invented Zerezo Bites, a dog-food brand that does not exist, as the next chapter of the series that started with the Zerezo Coffee spot.
How we solved it
We used hybrid filmmaking: human direction, shot by shot, over an AI-generated world. Before generating a single second of video we built a reference kit: three-view character sheets for Rocky, a corgi, and Fifa, a dachshund; the locations; the product pouch and bowl. On top of it, fixed production rules repeated in every prompt: no more than seven references per generation, real contact shadows, no eye glow and no third-party brands. Every shot was written like a cinematographer's shot list, with lens, camera move and speed ramps, and generated in Seedance 2.5; characters and locations came from Higgsfield Soul, and the posters from Seedream 5.0 Pro and GPT Image 2. The final cut runs 44 seconds: Rocky tries Zerezo Bites, sprints down a Mexico City street at golden hour, meets Fifa among bougainvillea and they share a candlelit rooftop dinner. The same kit produced the campaign posters, one featuring the director, and the behind-the-scenes stills. Full generation cost about 1,370 Higgsfield credits. Rocky and Fifa are inspired by two beloved companions who are no longer with us.

Questions about this production
What is hybrid filmmaking?
It is ZerezoFilms AI Studio's production method: human direction and real people inside AI-generated worlds, characters and shots. On Zerezo Bites every shot was directed from a cinematographer's shot list, and the director appears in the campaign posters from his own photograph.
How long does an AI-produced commercial take?
Zerezo Bites went from concept to first cut in 48 hours, including the reference kit, video shots, posters and behind-the-scenes stills. A brand project with approval rounds typically takes one to two weeks.
How does an AI commercial studio keep characters consistent across shots?
With three-view character sheets, a maximum of seven references per generation, written production rules repeated in every prompt and, when needed, frames from the spot itself as reference. That is how Rocky and Fifa look the same in the film, the posters and the stills.
Which AI tools were used?
Seedance 2.5 for video, Higgsfield Soul Cinema and Soul Location for characters and locations, Seedream 5.0 Pro for posters and behind-the-scenes stills, and GPT Image 2 for the product with readable typography. All of it directed by Rubén Zerecero.
Can a brand outside Mexico commission an AI commercial from Mexico City?
Yes. AI Studio projects are produced and approved remotely, in English or Spanish, so the brand or agency can be anywhere. Zerezo Bites itself is a fictional brand we created for this case; the only brands on screen are Zerezo Bites and ZerezoFilms.
